5th ISCC Global Sustainability Conference and General Assembly on 4 February 2015
The 5th ISCC Global Sustainability Conference will take place in Brussels on Wednesday, 4 February 2015.
The conference will be divided in three sessions covering the topics:
- EU policy and implementation of GHG Quota
- Sustainability certification and impact assessment
- ISCC PLUS and tangible benefits for food, feed and chemical markets
Senior staff from the European Commission and national authorities, the industry and NGOs will present interesting aspects of the topics and will be available for further questions during the panel sessions.
The annual ISCC conference has always been attended by many representatives from the industry, NGOs, associations, research and authorities. The conference has thus been established as important platform to discuss relevant topics, to meet colleagues and to broaden existing networks. Like in previous years, the conference is open to all interested parties.
Attendance is free of charge.
On the same day, right after the conference, the annual General Assembly of the ISCC Association is taking place to which all members of the ISCC Association are cordially invited.

ISCC statement on Finnwatch report on suspected labour rights violations on palm plantations
On 16 September 2014 the Finnish NGO Finnwatch published the report “The law of the jungle – Corporate responsibility of Finnish palm oil producers”. The report specifically addressed the working conditions on palm oil plantations in Malaysia. Since some of the plantations mentioned in the report are covered by ISCC certification, immediate action was taken when ISCC learned about the allegations. An ISCC integrity auditor was sent to Malaysia to get a comprehensive overview and verify the allegations on-site. Although no real shortcomings with ISCC requirements could be verified it became evident that some issues raised by the NGO should be addressed more closely in joint action from certification systems, companies and NGOs. Therefore, ISCC will initiate a working group within the ISCC Technical Committee South East Asia to work on solutions.

ISCC Basic Training in Hong Kong
The next three-day ISCC Basic Training takes place in Hong Kong from 3 – 5 March 2015. This training covers all topics relevant for ISCC certification. The participation in an ISCC Basic Training is a mandatory requirement for all auditors prior to conducting the first ISCC audit. Further target groups are representatives from companies interested in getting an ISCC certification or companies that are already using ISCC.
