ISCC fulfills SAI Silver and SAI Gold - Excellent Opportunities for ISCC System Users in the Food Market

Excellent opportunities have emerged for ISCC System Users to access new markets with only one certificate. The compliance of ISCC with SAI (Sustainable Agriculture Initiative) allows ISCC System Users to deliver materials into the global food market. ISCC certified companies now have the opportunity to fulfil next to the SAI Silver level also the SAI Gold level. This is applicable on a global level.

The SAI Platform is the primary global food & drink value chain initiative for sustainable agriculture. Initiated in 2002 by Nestlé, Unilever and Danone, today it has more than 80 members. They support the protection and improvement of the natural environment, as well as the social and economic conditions of farmers, their employees and local communities. The SAI has developed the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA), a tool to assess and improve the sustainability of farms.

Following a recent benchmark by the SAI Platform, ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS have been determined “Equivalent to FSA Silver" on a global level. This allows ISCC certified System Users around the world to sell their ISCC compliant products as "Equivalent to FSA 2.0 Silver".

SAI Gold, the highest SAI compliance level, can be fulfilled by System Users applying the voluntary ISCC PLUS Add-on “SAI Gold” on farm level. With this Add-on, products can be sold as “Equivalent to FSA 2.0 Gold” or as “ISCC Compliant with Add-on SAI Gold” on a global level.
