II International Conference on Sustainability of Biomass and Biofuels
- Practical Guidelines on How fulfill the market requirements with certification -
The conference, carried out on October 19, 2010, was a success. With the participation of 170 stakeholders, it provided a forum for decision makers in the soybean oil and biodiesel industry to analyze the practical impact of the forthcoming sustainability requirements for the European market.
Based on an update of the legal situation in the EU and in member countries like Germany, the conference provided an insight into the process and requirements of sustainability and GHG certification. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) System, which is based upon the new European sustainability legislation, was explained in detail. Representatives from ISCC and certification bodies explained how certification is carried out in practice, what companies have to do for preparation and during the audits, and how high the costs are.
