ISCC contributes towards the Sustainable Development Goals and Paris COP21
The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of goals countries have agreed upon in 2015 in order to eliminate poverty, protect the planet and guarantee prosperity for all.
ISCC contributes towards the achievement of these goals through:
Principles 1 & 2: Protection of land with high biodiversity value or high carbon stock. Production in an environmental responsible way, including the protectin of soil, water and air
Principle 3: Safe working conditions
Principle 4: Human rights, labour rights and land rights
At the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (also known as COP21) governments agreed upon the long-term goal of keeping the increase in global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels. The aim is to limit the increase to 1.5°C, since this would significantly reduce risks and the impacts of climate change. Greenhouse gas (GHG) requirements are already implemented in ISCC. A detailed methodology for international supply chains is already in place.
