July 20, 2011: European Commission recognizes ISCC as one of the first systems to certify sustainable biomass and bioenergy

ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is one of the first systems for the certification of sustainable biomass and liquid bioenergy (fuel and electricity) which is recognized by the European Commission in Brussels. As a result ISCC can be established as a proof for sustainable biomass on a worldwide basis. The EU stipulates in a directive the use of sustainable biomass for biofuels and liquid biomass.

May 27, 2011: ISCC is proposed for recognition by the European Commission

Today the European Commission is proposing ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) for recognition to the member states. The representatives of the member states will discuss the issue at the meeting of the Sustainability Committee for Biofuels and Liquid Biomass in Brussels. The meeting will be followed by the European Parliament statement and finally the publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

August 27, 2010: Sustainable Biomass: More than 6 million tons of certified processing capacity

The certification system "International Sustainability and Carbon Certification" (ISCC), implements the requirements of the German Sustainability Regulations and the European Renewable Energy Directive. Within the system already 35 certificates have been issued. The audited facilities have a processing capacity of around 6.3 million tonnes.

January 26, 2010: Foundation of ISCC Association

On January 26, 2010 twenty companies and organizations have founded the ISCC Association which will be the controlling body of the ISCC certification system. The ISCC Association will take over the ISCC System GmbH, which runs the certification system.

Damit ist ISCC das weltweit erste Zertifizierungssystem, das für die Kontrolle der Einhaltung der Nachhaltigkeitsanforderungen bei Biokraftstoffen und flüssige Biomasse für die Stromerzeugung staatlich zugelassen ist.
