ISCC System Opportunities under EU recognition
1. Acceptance of all EU recognized certification schemes
- No gap analysis or agreement of mutual recognition required
- ISCC checklist for easy processing of delivery notes from recognized schemes
2. Easy access to all EU biofuel markets
- Registration for access to the German database (Nabisy)
- Tool for generating sustainability declarations and data files required by EU Member States (EU-27 module)
3. Resource saving audit procedures on farm level
- Minimizing audit effort by applying group certification and document check when sufficient
- Audit of First Gathering Point (FGP) possible independently from farm audits
4. The only recognized certification scheme with a successful track record

Cologne, Brussels - 19 July 2011 - The European Commission has recognized today ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) as one ofthe first systems for the certification of sustainable biomass and liquid bioenergy (fuel and electricity) which is recognized by the European Commission in Brussels. As a result ISCC can be established as a proof for sustainable biomass on a worldwide basis. The EU stipulates in a directive the use of sustainable biomass for biofuels and liquid biomass.

ECRecognition.pdf (705KB)ISCC General Assembly: Positive summary after one year of certification of biomass
ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification), the first international certification system to prove sustainability and greenhouse gas savings for all kinds of biomass, gave a positive summary after one year of operation.
Speakers from associations, industry, trade and NGOs reported on their experiences with sustainability certifications. Amongst others the European Commission informed about the status quo and the future development of the Renewable Energy Directive and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection talked about the expansion of sustainability requirements on markets outside of the bioenergy sector. From Brazil was reported about the efforts that were made to build up a sustainable soy production and which role ISCC plays within that process.

ISCC aproved by German Authority BLE
ISCC System has been aproved by the German Authority BLE as the first Certification System for sustainable Biomass and Biofuels according to the German Biokraftstoff-Nachhaltigkeitsverordnung (Biokraft-NachV).
ISCC is an international certification system for Biomass and Biofuels (fuels and electricity) that describes the rules and procedures for certification. ISCC does not issue certficiates. This is the Certifying Bodies' (CBs) job. CBs aproved by the BLE and that cooperate with ISCC are listed here. These web pages inform companies and CBs about all that is important for certification based on ISCC.
