Objectives
An increasing number of companies is committing to net-zero targets and engaging in carbon markets. At the same time, offsetting residual emissions is under scrutiny amid concerns regarding the social and environmental integrity of carbon credit projects. Yet, organizations and regulators are embracing market-based mechanisms to channel private-sector investments towards greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainable development activities. The EU Carbon Removals and Carbon Removal Regulation is establishing a regulated European carbon market as of 2026. The UNFCCC Paris Agreement Article 6 Mechanism is expected to launch in 2025. This training aims to enable participants to navigate the regulatory and market landscape around net-zero commitments and carbon markets.
