ISCC Low ILUC Risk Feedstock Training
Low ILUC Risk Feedstock Training
Date to be announced
Fee Structure
- Early bird: 450 € + VAT (until 8 weeks ahead)
- Regular: 495 € + VAT
Objectives
A key focus of the training is on addressing and mitigating indirect land-use change (ILUC) risks. ILUC occurs when the increased demand for land for biofuel production leads to agricultural expansion into forests or grasslands. This expansion can reduce carbon stocks and potentially negate the greenhouse gas (GHG) savings that biofuels are intended to achieve. The European Union’s Delegated Regulation 2019/807 and the Renewable Energy Directive 2018/2001 (REDII) establish criteria to limit and phase out high ILUC risk biofuels by 2030, unless they are certified as low ILUC risk.
The ISCC Low ILUC Risk Feedstock certification is an add-on designed for farms/plantations and First Gathering Points (FGP) certified under ISCC EU and PLUS schemes. This add-on allows economic operators to demonstrate compliance with sustainability standards for biofuels, thereby avoiding the phase out set on high ILUC risk biofuels.
The ISCC Low ILUC Risk Feedstock Training aims to:
- Equip participants with the knowledge and tools to assess and verify low ILUC risk feedstocks effectively
- Provide an in-depth understanding of the regulatory framework, certification criteria, and the certification process
- Offer insights and practical knowledge for implementing additionality measures to ensure sustainable biofuel production
Benefits at a Glance
- Comprehensive knowledge of ILUC risks and mitigation strategies
- An understanding of the requirements for low ILUC risk certification and their application
- Skills to calculate dynamic yield baselines and identify additionality measures
- Understanding of the additionality tests and competence to calculate the volume of additional biomass
Target Group
- Auditors and representatives from certification bodies
- Sustainability and compliance managers in biofuel and biomass production companies
- Stakeholders in the renewable energy sector
- Individuals interested in promoting sustainable biofuel production
- Farmers
- Other interested parties
Important note
The participation in the ISCC Basic Training, as well as the ISCC Low ILUC Risk Feedstock Training, and the successful completion of the subsequent ISCC Auditor Online Tests are mandatory requirements for all auditors before they can conduct low ILUC risk certification audits. Once successfully completed, the auditor qualification will be valid for three years from passing the ISCC Auditor Online Test.
In addition to the training requirements, auditors must fulfil the following criteria:
- Knowledge and professional experience in
- agriculture, land management or a related field
- land use characteristics and land categories
- Assessment of yield increase measures
- The conduction of either at least 10 audits on farm level or professional education in agriculture or a related field
General Note
- ISCC trainings are open for all interested parties
- ISCC trainings are held in English (if not stated otherwise)
- The training documents are provided to all participants prior to the training in electronic form via download link
- Participants should use their computers or laptops for the training
- A Proof of Participation can only be issued for participants who attend the entire training to the end and also actively participate in the group work ⇒ a stable and continuous internet connection is on own responsibility
- Auditors who intend to conduct the low ILUC risk feedstock certification audits must successfully complete the ISCC Auditor Online Test within eight weeks after enrolment by ISCC Staff
