ISCC's Four Feedstock Categories

ISCC Certified Feedstocks

ISCC certification covers sustainable agricultural biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, non-biological renewable materials, recycled carbon-based materials and renewables. The materials can be divided into four feedstock categories:

Bio

Bio materials are derived from virgin biomass: the biodegradable fraction of products from agriculture, forestry and related industries including fisheries and aquaculture.

Bio-Circular

Bio-Circular materials are derived from waste & residues of biological origin from agriculture, forestry and related industries incl. fisheries and aquaculture, as well as the biodegradable fraction of industrial and municipal waste.

Circular

Circular materials are derived from the mechanical and / or chemical processing of recyclable materials of non-biological origin (fossil-based).

Renewable

Renewable materials are derived from processes using renewable energy sources.
