Textiles

We provide a robust sustainability certification for textiles linked to alternative feedstocks. This includes fibers and raw materials used in today’s fashion that originate from agriculture, forestry or recycled fossil-based resources. By supporting responsible sourcing and efficient end-of-life recycling, ISCC certification helps reduce environmental impact and drive more climate-friendly textile supply chains.

Textiles Covered under ISCC

All materials and products linked to recycled or sustainably grown feedstocks can become ISCC PLUS-certified. Feedstocks can be handled as physically segregated or mixed with conventional feedstocks via controlled blending or mass balance.

Plant Fibers

e.g., cotton, hemp

Cellulosic Fibers

e.g., viscose, lyocell

Synthetic Fibers

e.g., polyester, nylon

Key Benefits of an ISCC PLUS Certification

  • ISCC PLUS covers all materials linked to recycled or renewable feedstocks.
  • ISCC PLUS certificates are site-specific. All materials on our material list can be covered in one certificate.
  • Established traceability and chain-of-custody methods: mass balance, physical segregation and controlled blending.
  • Third-party verified claims: ISCC PLUS System Users can demonstrate their commitment to responsible textile production by using third-party verified sustainability claims. Certified finished goods for end consumers can bear the ISCC on-product logos.

The Six ISCC Principles

ISCC PLUS certification supports the sustainable production of agricultural materials. Our principles go beyond legal requirements, driving real improvements in environmental, social, and economic performance.

No conversion of land with high biodiversity or carbon stock, including primary forests, protected areas, habitats of rare species, and peatlands.

Promotion of good agricultural practices to protect soil, water, and air, conserve biodiversity, and reduce emissions and pollution.

Ensuring safe working conditions on farm level, including health, safety and hygiene policies, and the use of protective clothing and procedures in case of accidents.

Coverage of requirements for rural and social development, the rights of workers and local communities, based on but not limited to the core labourstandards, defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO)

Assurance that agricultural production follows all applicable laws and international agreements, avoiding conflicts of interest, bribery, or corruption.

Implementation of responsible, efficient, and transparent management systems to ensure continuous improvement in sustainability performance.

Market and Policy Drivers

Policy and voluntary frameworks are accelerating the shift to alternative materials:

Sustainable and Circular Textiles Strategy

The EU’s Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles aims to transform textile production and consumption, while underlining the strategic importance of the sector. It integrates the commitments of the European Green Deal, the Circular Economy Action Plan and the European Industrial Strategy.
