Our certifications cover a wide range of products and materials – even many that are hiding in plain sight. Let’s explore how a fruitful collaboration with the world’s leading industrial coating resin provider has helped ISCC expand its range of certified materials.
Going global: allnex’s ISCC-certified sites
Our collaboration with allnex, the world’s leading supplier of resin for industrial coatings, has been a long-lasting and impactful one. Since obtaining their first ISCC certifications in Werndorf, Austria and Bergen-op-Zoom, Netherlands at the end of 2022, they have continued to expand their commitment to a sustainable supply chain by steadily increasing their number of certified sites to now also include:
- Romano d’Ezzelino (Italy)
- Bien Hoa (Vietnam)
- Drogenbos and Schoonaarde (Belgium)
- Lilleström (Norway)
- Changshu and Fengxian (China)
- Rayong (Thailand)
By obtaining their ISCC certification, allnex can now offer alternatives to their product portfolio and assure their customers that these options are backed by our rigorous certification process.
Expanding our horizons
Of course, the best partnerships are always a two-way street. In consultation with allnex’ technology experts, we were able to introduce several new chemical categories to the ISCC PLUS material list. Not only is this a testament to our mutually value-centred collaboration style, it will also allow us to extend our certification scope in the immediate future.
“As an ISCC Systems User, allnex has contributed to the expansion range of ISCC PLUS certified materials, promoting greater transparency and environmental responsibility in the chemical sector.”
Mass balance – on an industrial scale
Allnex uses the mass balance chain of custody option to trace the flow of alternative feedstocks through complex value chains. This is when certified and non-certified materials are physically mixed throughout the value chain but kept separate through verifiable record keeping. The amount of certified feedstock that replaces fossil-based raw material is tracked and documented to ensure that the quantity of the certified feedstock accurately corresponds to the amount claimed in the finished good.
Companies like allnex use mass balance to document and track the exact amount of alternative feedstock they use. This ensures that the quantity of alternative feedstocks allocated to the product matches the quantity sourced at the start of the production.
One of the major advantages of the mass balance approach is its flexibility: companies can gradually increase the share of alternative feedstocks in the production process without altering the existing infrastructure.

The future of ISCC and allnex
Just like the years before it, 2025 is set to be another great year for our collaboration with allnex. We’re delighted that they have chosen to continuously expand their network of certified sites since 2022 and hope to see our connection keep flourishing this year and beyond.
