According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the circular economy is “one that is restorative and regenerative by design, and which aims to keep products, components and materials at their highest utility and value at all times, distinguishing between technical and biological cycles.”
In 2016, Enerkem obtained certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification system for the Alberta facility, making it the first ISCC-certified plant in the world to convert MSW into biomethanol.
