Across many consumer goods, more brands are choosing materials that can be traced and verified, and more shoppers are paying attention to where plastics come from. This shift is especially visible in products for children, where trust, safety, and environmental responsibility matter greatly.

The toy sector is a good example of how this trend is becoming mainstream. Recent recognition for PLAYMOBIL’s JUNIOR line, whose products are linked to ISCC PLUS-certified plastics, shows that products made with certified materials are being noticed not only by consumers but also by independent juries.

The JUNIOR product line recently received the Gold Award for Sustainability at the Play for Change Awards, a well-known international competition in the toy industry.

The jury specifically highlighted ISCC PLUS-certified plastic materials as a key reason for the award. For ISCC, this is meaningful because it shows that certification is valued by experts and appreciated in a market where parents closely examine what products are made of and how they are produced.

The momentum continued with nine JUNIOR products earning the respected “spiel gut” seal. Meaning literally “play well,” this seal is familiar to many families in Germany and is known for its careful evaluation of toys based on play value, design and overall quality.

While the “spiel gut” seal is not a sustainability award, it shows that toys linked to certified materials can fully meet expectations for quality and play experience.

More Nominations for ISCC-Certified Plastics

Two JUNIOR items have also been nominated for TOP 10 Baby & Kind (eng.: Child) 2026, which highlights products expected to be especially popular with parents: the AQUA Waterfall Tank with Slide, and the Sand Ice Cream Shop. Both products, like the rest of the JUNIOR line, are linked to raw materials certified by ISCC PLUS.

The final list will be announced in early 2026, but the nominations alone are another signal from consumers that toys linked to certified materials are gaining positive attention in the broader baby and toddler market.

Taken together, these awards and nominations show a clear pattern. Certified plastics are becoming more visible, more appreciated, and more common in products that families use every day.

The Reason Consumers are Choosing Certified Plastics

According to the European Union, 73% of consumers say the environmental impact of a product is an important factor in their purchasing decisions. But without trusted, third-party certification, green claims cannot always be trusted.

To put it simply, independent, third-party certification schemes like ISCC help to build consumer trust. In combination with the use of ISCC logos (often found on consumer products like PLAYMOBIL’s JUNIOR line), we offer consumers a simple way to make informed choices.

For ISCC, the JUNIOR line’s success is a helpful sign. It shows us that certified materials are not only important to the companies for meeting their sustainability commitments, but also meaningful to people buying toys for their children. This creates new opportunities to demonstrate the value of ISCC PLUS in a way that connects with real-life decisions and everyday products.
