Only five steps towards ISCC certification

ISCC for bio-based products

ISCC provides practical solutions for fully traceable and deforestation free supply chains, covering all feedstocks and markets

ISCC is a globally leading certification system covering the entire supply chain and all kinds of bio based feedstocks and renewables. With ISCC, companies can demonstrate their commitment towards environmentally and socially responsible production and sourcing of sustainable and deforestation free raw materials. ISCC applies strict rules, compensation for new plantings is not allowed.

ISCC has become a leading certification system for the growing market of biomethane. Landfill operations, biomethane producers, biomethane traders and further biomethane processors are already certified under ISCC. ISCC provides certification concepts for biomethane supply chains based on different feedstocks.

ISCC developed a concept for the certification of renewable materials of non-biological origin. For example, companies that use electricity for processing materials (e.g. via electrolysis) or technologies capturing CO2 for the production of materials can be certified under ISCC. Furthermore, ISCC is one of the leading systems for the certification of waste to bio-based materials concepts. Companies processing municipal solid wastes, landfill gas or used car tires into valuable products are using ISCC for proving compliance with sustainability requirements.

Additionally, ISCC certifies and provides guidance on relevant requirements for the simultaneous co-processing of sustainable bio-based inputs and fossil inputs.

Processing residues and co-products from the wood-industry can be processed into biochemicals. ISCC certifies and provides guidance on relevant requirements for wood-based biochemicals and their supply chains.

Site specific audits and certificates ensure full traceability along the supply chain. Each player can source sustainable products from any ISCC certificate holder.

ISCC certified companies have excellent opportunities to deliver their bio based materials on a global scale

ISCC is in line with

  • INRO, the German Initiative for sustainable supply of raw materials for the industrial use of biomass
  • The requirements of L’ORÉAL’s sustainable sourcing policy
  • Green Deal: ISCC is a partner of Green Deal, the Dutch initiative to set up sustainability criteria for bio based polymer products

Sustainability certification for bio-based materials has taken off

The sourcing of sustainable and deforestation free bio based products is already reality and more and more companies are committed to sourcing sustainable and deforestation free raw material. Companies increasingly display their ISCC certification on final products to highlight ISCC certification to customers.

ISCC provides possibilities to extend the certificate to specific market requirements

Additionally to the core requirements of ISCC, interested parties can choose from a set of voluntary add-ons, such as:
