Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

ISCC is continuing the efforts to ensure that, as stated here on the European Commission website, the recognition of the first voluntary schemes under the RED II will happen in the short term. As one measure, ISCC has sent letters to three high-level members of the European Commission. Furthermore, a number of voluntary schemes including ISCC, have urged the European Commission in a joint letter to recognise the voluntary schemes that are technically compliant with RED II (see System Update as of 23 July 2021) without any further delay.

With regards to the specific situation in Poland, ISCC has been in contact with relevant Polish authorities i.e. the Ministry of Climate and Environment, KOWR (Krajowy Ośrodek Wsparcia Rolnictwa/National Support Centre for Agriculture) and the Energy Regulatory Office (URE).

We would like to inform you that the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment has issued a statement yesterday (10th August 2021) that provides information to ensure the smooth functioning of the fuel market and the uninterrupted supply of biomass, biocomponents and biofuels from outside Poland.

The statement is available on the website of the Ministry under the following link (in Polish only).

The statement is based on discussions between the different relevant Polish authorities. The possible effects for ISCC EU certified system users within Poland or delivering sustainable material and biofuels into the Polish market are not yet entirely clear. ISCC is in contact with the authorities to obtain further information.

We will keep you informed about any new developments.
