Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
We herewith inform you about updates and clarifications in the ISCC System. Please share this information with all relevant members of staff.
1. ISCC EU Self-Declarations Available in Further Languages
The ISCC self-declaration template on food waste and the ISCC self-declaration template on used cooking oil are now also available in Vietnamese. The ISCC self-declaration template on waste and residues for biofuel production on the sustainability of biomass in line with Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED II) is now also available in Persian. The ISCC self-declaration template for POME is now also available in French, Indonesian, Malaysian, and Spanish. The templates are available in the client section of the ISCC website (login required).
2. ISCC Update Regarding the Timeline of the Union Database
We are pleased to share an important update regarding the Union Database (UDB) launch timeline. In the webinar “Registration of all types of transactions & PoS” held by the European Commission (EC) on 8 March 2023, the EC stated that there are no legal deadlines for the launch of the UDB and that 2023 is a transition year to monitor the processes within the UDB and determine how the system will work. In an updated chart titled “Onboarding & Transition (updated)”, the EC also stated that the dates listed “are not deadlines but the availability of the application at various stages considering the complexity of the exercise with aim to be fully operational by Q4 23”. The updated table can be found on the ISCC website. Please note, that the EC also stated that even though there are no legal deadlines to complete the different tasks, all Economic Operators (EOs) are advised to start immediately.
3. Update in the ISCC Terms of Use
With this system update, we would like to draw your attention to the change in our Terms of Use regarding data protection.
The amendment was necessary to comply with new requirements of the European Commission for Voluntary Schemes to submit System User data to the EC, especially in connection with the introduction of the UDB. For this purpose, we have revised the provisions of Item 9 of the Terms of Use and, on this occasion, also streamlined them. New in Item 9.5 Sentence 1 is an additional provision that allows ISCC to publish data of System Users or to pass them on to third parties, in particular to the European Commission or third parties appointed by it, if this is necessary for the performance of the System Usage Agreement, i.e. the Certification. Also, in future, the text form (including e-mail) will suffice for the System Users’ consent to the publication or disclosure of their data. This simplifies handling in situations where ISCC needs the consent of System Users for the publication or disclosure of data at short notice in order to maintain the performance of the certification system and thus ultimately in the interest of the System Users.
The new Terms of Use can be found on the ISCC website and will only come into effect for you with the forthcoming certification audit. If you do not agree with the changes, you can terminate the System Usage Agreement at any time and without notice in accordance with Item 14.1 and 13.2 of the Terms of Use (version date of validity 01 February 2017).
