The System Update is mandatory for all ISCC System Users, ISCC Auditors and cooperating Certification Bodies.
1. ISCC EU
1.1 Update on Harmonisation of Heating Value Conversions
Effective 16 October 2025, a conversion factor of 1.1 can be applied when converting the Lower Heating Value (LHV) to the Higher Heating Value (HHV) for biomethane.
Formula:
HHV = 1.1 × LHV
This conversion accounts for the latent heat of vaporisation of water, which is included in the Higher Heating Value, but not in the Lower Heating Value. Using this factor ensures consistent and comparable heating value data across different calculations and documentation.
1.2 List of Material Eligible for ISCC EU Certification (“ISCC EU Material List”)
We have updated the ISCC EU material list. The newly added and revised materials are marked in bold.
2. Updated ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS Self-declarations
We now feature separate self-declarations under ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS for all relevant scopes, tailored to the specific requirements of each certification scheme.
Key updates include:
- Inclusion of the mandatory maximum capacity (only for ISCC EU)
- Addition of geographic coordinates fields
- Revision of the legal terms
The updated self-declarations are available in the client section of the ISCC website (login required) and are valid from 30 September 2025. Their use will be mandatory for initial and re-certification audits from 1 January 2026 onwards.
3. Mandatory Addition of a Second Contact Person in the ISCC HUB
Effective 1 January 2026, all System Users must provide a second contact person in the registration form. This helps us ensure that we can always reach someone in your organisation if we need to clarify something or for fulfilling reporting obligations.Previously, providing the name and contact details of one staff member was sufficient.
Further notes:
- A generic email address (e.g. info@…) does not meet this requirement for the second contact person.
- System Users can update their registration data directly in the ISCC HUB.
- Each System User is responsible for ensuring that all provided information, including contact details, is current and complete.
If your registration currently lists only one contact person, or contains a generic email address as a contact, you need to update your company profile to include a second contact person by 31 December 2025.
If you are unable to access your existing registration, please contact ISCC at: registration@iscc-system.org. Further guidance is available in the ISCC HUB manual.
