ISCC is committed to supporting the shift towards the circular economy and bioeconomy. The ISCC Technical Stakeholder Committee – Circular Economy and Bioeconomy provides a platform for stakeholders to engage in a constructive dialogue on the sustainability certification of recycled and bio-based materials.
The 8th ISCC Technical Stakeholder Meeting on Circular Economy and Bioeconomy, held on 28 November 2023, was a virtual meeting with more than 230 participants from all over the world. The meeting covered several key topics, starting with updates and developments in ISCC PLUS, highlighting the latest progress in this area. A significant portion of the discussion focused on legislative developments in Japan, highlighting the evolving regulatory landscape in the country. Furthermore, the meeting covered the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and its implications on chemical recycling, providing insights into how these regulatory measures might shape the industry. The integration of the Mass Balance Approach into sustainability goals within the ISCC PLUS framework was another crucial aspect discussed, emphasizing the importance of aligning environmental objectives with certification processes. Lastly, the meeting addressed ISCC’s partnership with Amazon’s CPF (Climate Pledge Friendly) Program, exploring the collaborative efforts between the two entities in promoting sustainable practices. The meeting overall provided a comprehensive overview of recent developments and collaborations within the ISCC community, demonstrating a commitment to advancing circular economy and bioeconomy initiatives.
